Simon Cowell has hinted that he wants to reload the judges panel on "X Factor" with two new women and according to reports, he's close to landing a superstar who might help the second season of his talent contest much more interesting.

While names including Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey have been bandied about as possible replacements for Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul,? the buzz has continued to focus on Britney Spears. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spears' fiancé/agent, Jason Trawick, is on the verge of closing a deal as early as next week.

Cowell has played it coy with the Spears rumors over the past several weeks, telling reporters in a conference call that "there's going to be a lot of twists and turns over the next few weeks and a lot of things we're going to announce." A spokesperson for "Factor" could not be reached for comment at press time.

After some major hype from Cowell, "Factor" underperformed in its first season -- putting up solid numbers, but not the gaudy ones Simon had predicted. As a result, he blew up the judging panel, keeping just music executive L.A. Reid by his side and canning host Steve Jones.

If Spears did take the gig, which Deadline Hollywood reported could come with a $10 million payday, she would join her fellow Mickey Mouse Clubhouse mate, Christina Aguilera, in the hot seat of a major reality singing show. After a few rough professional and personal years, Aguilera has gone a long way toward reclaiming her A-list status thanks to the success of her performance on "The Voice."

Cowell reportedly reached out personally to Spears to get the conversation rolling and he's been talking her up lately, saying in that same conference call, "are we flattered there would be interest from Britney Spears? Yes." In a later interview, he said he was "fascinated" with Spears and praised her for resilience after a rough period during which she endured some very public personal struggles.

Jackson's name was in the hopper until recently, when she revealed that, while flattered by the offer, the TV gig just would not jive with the professional commitments? already on her calendar this year.

In an exclusive interview set to air on TODAY Thursday morning, Lindsay Lohan tells Matt Lauer that she is ?clean and sober? and she wants ?to continue to move forward and in the right direction.?

The actress, who will host ?Saturday Night Live? this weekend, also told Lauer, ?I still need to go through the process of proving myself.?

Lohan, 25, is one court appearance away from putting her legal troubles from a 2007 drunken driving case behind her. Lauer asked her if, when they spoke last, the actress was in denial.

?Definitely,? Lohan said. ?And I think it was ? it?s a scary thing to have to kind of express to people ? I wasn?t as comfortable with myself then. I think it was a fear factor that I had about what was really going on. And, you know, I had to get that wakeup call.?

Lohan also told Lauer that the temptation of night life and parties is something she?s avoiding.

?That?s not my thing anymore. I went out, actually, a few months ago with a friend. And I was so uncomfortable. Not because I felt tempted, just because it was just the same thing that it always was before. And it just wasn?t fun for me. I?ve become more of a homebody. And I like that.?

It may be that change in lifestyle, or at the least the perception that there has been a change, that will help the actress get back to work.

?Do you think people have gotten back, or can get back to the point where they trust you?? Lauer asked. ?In other words, professional people? You know, if they say to you, ?Come host ?Saturday Night Live?,? that?s a big commitment. And do you think the producers and directors of movies and television projects are going to get back to the part where they can go, ?You know what? Yeah, we can count on Lindsay. We can bank on her???

?I think that that?s gonna take ? I think that takes time,? Lohan said. ?And I think that it?s actions. Because people can say things all they want, but I think I still need to go through the process of proving myself, you know, with ?SNL,? being on time, being, you know, keeping my ? can?t say the word ? but stuff together.?

Lohan offers details on reports that she?s set to play Elizabeth Taylor in her next project.

?We?re in the middle of casting and figuring ? we start production soon,? Lohan said. ?I?ve been doing tons of research. But I?ve always kind of researched her. She?s always been a fascinating woman to me. So I?m really honored. And I will not let anyone down, especially myself.?

Asked about that need to qualify her commitment, Lohan says she understands how it might be scary for people to invest in her.

?I don?t want people to have that reason to be scared anymore. So being able to have this opportunity with ?SNL? and the film, I?m gonna do what I?m supposed to do, and enjoy doing it, and do it as best as I can.?

Vera Wang's recent Fall 2012 fashion show was one of New York Fashion Week's most highly anticipated events, with Viola Davis, Renee Zellweger, Leighton Meester and the Vogue Editor-in-Chief herself, Anna Wintour, all in attendance.

ET got a coveted invite inside the glamorous show, where the stars professed their love for the celebrity designer.

"This was my first fashion show so it was so exciting," Davis, who got an enviable front row seat next to Wintour, told ET. "But I love Vera Wang -- I find her so feminine, so classic and chic."

We?ll cut to the chase: Reese Witherspoon looks smokin? hot in her new film, This Means War. Playing a professional caught between two debonair guys, she wears lots of sexy date looks ? and at one point, even strips down.

?Getting sexier was a very clear idea that all of us ? myself, [director] McG and Reese ? had from the beginning,? costume designer Sophie De Rakoff tells PEOPLE. ?This was the movie to push it a little further.?

De Rakoff, who?s worked with Witherspoon on six films (including Legally Blonde), says that creating a perfect wardrobe for the star was tough at times. ?The thought was, what is the balance between someone who has a high-profile, serious job, and a woman who is out there, single in the dating world,? she muses. ?We had to meld those two worlds together without making her look schizophrenic.?

The designer says the date looks were especially fun to create; an Hervé Léger dress paired with a jacket from The Row tops her list of favorites. ?The dates are so varied ? you?ve got a nightclub, paintball, a carnival ? so it was an opportunity to do fun outfits for each circumstance,? she explains.

And to make Witherspoon appear as that girl next door, De Rakoff mixed lots of high-end pieces with more affordable fashions. ?We used Dolce & Gabbana, J Brand, Prada, Theory, Burberry, Miu Miu, J. Crew, Opening Ceremony,? she says. ?It ran the whole gamut.?

It?s not just about the leading lady, though: De Rakoff enjoyed dressing Chris Pine (?He basically wears Ralph Lauren the whole movie,? she says), Tom Hardy (?He?s a rougher version of Chris?s character?) and Chelsea Handler, too. ?Chelsea looks like Chelsea,? she says, ?but I think that it works because it makes her look more real ? and allows her humor to shine though.?

By combining the thin shimmer with thick wool tweeds, Marc by Marc Jacob creates dimension in layering.

Instead of heels, the models wore combat boots with red lipstick and hipster rimmed glasses to give an edgier look to the feminine a-line, pleated skirts. Marc Jacobs shows us that you can play the looks up or dress them down and still be fabulous.
